For the second consecutive year that VFS has been eligible, a Digital Design project has won another Salazar Student Award. Duelity, a motion piece by Boca and Ryan Uhrich (DD07), captured the award for the Interactive/Motion Design category. A Brief Guide about Bridesmaids, by Yaniv Fridman, Amber Mackay, and Nicolas A. Girard (DD10), received a Honourable Mention. It was noted that it was a very tight decision between the two projects. The highlight of the night was a presentation by Stefan Sagmeister.
Sagmeister Tickets!

Hey Guys,
Just so you know, I just found out that there’s gonna be door tickets for the Salazar Awards, Sagmeister being the guest speaker. The tickets sold out in like three days but they kept some, my guess, to see how designers will fight for the last ticket.
So if you want to attend the event, grab a blanket and go to the Roundhouse earlier than everybody else who has a ticket!
Portfolio Review

I know this is rushed but I just saw this and I thought it might be interesting for some of you, There’s going to be a Portfolio Review event tomorrow at TAXI, apparently it’s quite the event where you present your work to at least three creative directors from Vancouver, in a speed-dating kinda setup.

A quick walk thru on developing the Finish Line Shoes brand commercial you might have seen. Project involve camera tracking in 3D, then using 3D data to bring into After Effects for animation.
Pixel Art in Design

One of the commonly asked question in my Pixel Art class is where do you see/use pixel art within our fields. They mainly appear in the Gaming industry where handheld device always needed. Also a lot of icons, buttons, or even the entire websites /applications interface are done using pixel arts.
And of course now that pixel art is becoming an art form where people used it as a design solutions. And here’s an example of it.
