IDEO on Knowledge Sharing

by Brad Ando

I was looking for the presentation for yesterday’s VanUE presentation from IDEO’s Gentry Underwood.  Best I could come up with was some notes on his talk (it is actually for his talk that he gave at Web 2.0 Expo NYC but it sounds close enough).

In case anyone else was interested or missed it:

Printable Wireframe Graph Paper

by Brad Ando

Konigi Graph Paper

“This graph paper is made for visual designers, interaction designers, and information architects. You’ll find styles for wireframing user interfaces, story boarding interaction, and plotting values on a two by two grid. Plus you’ll get a basic grid for drafting sitemaps or anything else that might come up.

These pages are great for sketching, but also work well when producing high fidelity drawings. The title bar and grid lines are non-photo blue, so you can easily remove them when scanned. The thick black lines for boxes will show in scans and are 2px wide to match the weight of Pentel Sign Pens.”

Term 3, Je T’aime

by Nicolas Alexander

This might be a little late for term 3 students as I am sure your infographics are well on the way and just need some polishing by now ;) (yeah right..!) but I suggest to anybody interested in infographics in general to pickup the newest Idn magazine.

Their new issue focusing on infographics is full of inspiring pieces of work from web, print & motion .The magazine features (info)-graphic designer Nicholas Felton, motion design studio PIC Agency for their amazing Kingdom titles, Superfad for their sprint commercial and many others. For people interested in web design involving infographics, they have a short interview with Jonathan Harris who is mostly into web information visualization, check out his web projects, especially “we feel fine” and his talk on TED.

Still into this term-3-love state of mind, the magazine also includes short articles/interview with title sequences giants Prologue and Richard Morrison.

I think its worth the 15 bucks but if your broke, it might be a good idea to ask faculty to get their hands on at least 1 copy for the school as I am sure this could help some people for the motion design 3 class to get fresh inspiration. Enough of that bridesmaids crap…

bloggin’ again. yay!

by Nicolas Alexander

Hey DDs, guys, people, you…

Having graduated from the dd program last august, I found myself a couple of weeks later, in a very unfamiliar situation: boredom. Trying to find something else to do than applying for jobs, I realized that I was surprisingly very jealous of Jamie Peterson. Not for his muscular body, but for graduating and still blogging like crazy and cooking meat balls. Quickly admitting to myself that I will never cook meatballs, I decided to redesign my dead blog once again (I know it’s the 5th time, whatever!). so its up… goodmorningstranger.com/blog . It’s pretty empty right now but come and say hi when u have a second. oh! and thanks toPablo from DD09 who did the code…

Miniature Rocket

by Nicolas Alexander

Miniature Rocket was created by myself and Yaniv Fridman as our final project in the Digital Design program at VFS. The objective was to create an identity and a launching campaign for a new design studio that would specialize in motion graphics. The launch campaign collateral includes a website and stationery material. A one minute video called Polaris was also created as an alternative to the traditional demo reel for the company. Combining 2D, 3D animation, stop motion and classical animation, it is inspired by, and references the art and design of the 20th Century.

Update : featured on Motionographer & No Fat Clips!!!

visit the website at www.miniaturerocket.com for more information or see the video in hi-resolution.

We are also working on our personal portfolios which should be finalized in the next few days:

How to create workflows for RIA?

by Brad Ando

“Ajax and Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) have revolutionized the way users interact with Web sites. However, documenting the design of any page that uses Ajax is a challenge, because the page—and, more importantly, components on the page—can have different states, depending on how users interact with the page’s components.”

a tee on threadless!

by Iván Cruz

Hey guys, For the few of you who might not know what Threadless is, it’s a t-shirt company that prints limited versions of designs created by different designers & artists. There’s an initial period when you send it and they can either take it or reject it, and then it goes public for people to vote and comment on it.

Well, I had an illustration that sat on the back of my drive for months and then I decided to send it out of curiosity, I just got an email saying that it got selected for public voting, so, check it out and tell me what you think.
