Hello DD’s. My name is Ryan from DD07. I haven’t posted on here for a long time. I’ve recently created a simple blog on tumblr for posting some of my experiments in design, photography, 2D/3D animation and music. I’d like to share it with you.
Some of you might rememeber there was a one man shooting “crew” here in our campus back in April. Here is the link to the print press on Adobe site, we sent them a selection of videos but they end up using only one of them…
Congratulations to Stefan Ramirez Pérez, from DD14, who won at the recent GDC/BC Salazar Student Awards event. Venice, his term two chroma key talking head video, was selected by a panel of distinguished design professionals as the winner of the Web Design and Interactive Media category. Other finalists included the team of Aaron Chiesa, Henry Sukarya, Lisa Temes, Toru Kageyama (DD12)for their motion infographic, Iran: Nation of Bloggers, and Jorge R. Canedo Estrada, also from DD14,for his kinetic typography project,Century Schoolbook: Piano 2.0.
Motion Comics are gaining popularity as a way to attract new audiences for comic book characters and stories. Visually engaging experiences are brought to life through the use of subtle movements of artwork, voice-overs, and sweeping music scores. Ivan Cruz (DD09), Erica Edwards (DD10), and Eric Wada (DD06), three DD grads working full-time at Sequence, have contributed their motion design skills to a number of “Batman: Black & White” short form digital Motion comics.
from a Time Warner press release:
“The “Batman: Black & White” stories are told from the perspective of Batman and range in theme from the unsettling drama of solving a brutal murder to the light comedy of fighting bad guys with a broken nose. These short episodes also touch on elements of romance, mystery and even the supernatural. And like any exciting Batman story, classic villains such as The Joker, Harley Quinn and Two-Face make heralded appearances. It’s Batman as seen through the prism of some of today’s most eloquent graphic artists and writers.”
The episodes are available exclusively for purchase via the US iTunes store.
Ryan Uhrich and Marcos (Boca) Ceravolo from DD07 have created a film titled “Wacko-Gonzo”. This project represents their first major collaboration since graduation. Working in their spare time, away from motion graphics/3D animation duties at THANK YOU in Copenhagen, they designed, directed and animated the short film as part of PSST! 3.
“The mission of PSST is to produce original short films through the collaboration of different teams of designers, directors, and animators. Each film is comprised of three sections produced by three different teams. This process is the whole idea behind PSST! – a technique derived from the Dadaist game of Exquisite Corpse and the children’s game Telephone and applied to the arts of motion graphics, animation and film-making.”
The complete film will be available shortly, while the trailer can be viewed at the PSST! site:
Hey Everyone, ( Justin Kohse here, thanks to nick for letting me post under his account)
I entered a contest a little while back called “the directors chair contest”. You basically make a 15 second commercial and show your scene movie card in some way, shape, or form. A friend and myself came up with a character known as the “Mustache Vigilante” aka: Detective Frank Cleamon. The contest works by views and votes and we could really use your help!
we had a ton of footage, way more the 15 seconds worth, so we compiled it into a longer “uncut” version, but with no scene card. Just some old fasioned crime fighting with a mustache.
“Monday”, a motion piece by Jadyn Aguilar(DD09), has been selected to participate in the 2008 Haydenfilms Online Film Festival. It is one of two films representing Canada from a total of 63 short films chosen from around the world. The festival is running through February 10, 2009.
“It is now the time to have your family and friends come support your film and be part of Haydenfilms online community. We are awarding a Viewer Appreciation Award of $1,000 cash prize to a Haydenfilms.com member selected at random who casts his or her vote for at least 10 of our finalists. The voting rule is as followed:
The Haydenfilms online community will vote on the films to decide the final four. Our interactive voting mechanism has been designed to eliminate all bias votes, which means this is not a popularity contest. Each member must vote on a minimum of ten films in order for their votes to count.”
“Using a webcam and flash, we’ve taken our Papervision character from the desktop to the desk. A new and exciting way to interact with your flash content.”
