One of my daily stops,Contemporist, was featuring a cool redesign for a “Vancouver Special” house earlier this week. I wasn’t going to post it but then i decided that it was somewhat design related. Some of the Comments are interesting too about echo-ing the earlier design. The redesign was done by Vancouver’s Inconstrux (who has a quite a cool website btw).

After offering us a new reel a couple months ago, L.A.’s Laundry! finally launched their new website and also made a new intro for their reel. make sure to check out their very nice illustration section which I don’t think was available before(I could be wrong though - their older site was cool looking but was a mess.

Just in-case you wanted to read a bedtime story to your child about business trends heres an example. I’m working still pretty simple which is fine. I’m working on the bigger chunks of this project with my feet at the same time as i’m writing this… In the scenario me and hendy are the parents who read children horror stories. what saves this thing is the fact that the lights are off and the computer screen works as a spotlight.
if you want to see this in action goto the address below. im having some issue embedding this guy

I am really excited to announce that my band Alpah Trion is going be getting shirts printed soon. These are 2 ideas we came up with as a band and I thought I would post for all to see and get some feedback from people. We are going to have a black shirt and a purple shirt. Right now, these are the designs we have:

My good friend Darin in Entropia asked me to do their myspace layout for them and give them a better online presence from what they previously had. I did not do the artwork for this project, Entropia had a concept artist by the name of Warren Flanigan do the graphics for them so my job was to implement those designs into their web page. I was excited for this project because Entropia has a very big following in Vancouver and a lot of people would see my work. This gave me the opportunity to try some new layouts in the myspace code and try something new unlike the past myspace layouts I have done. This is the final final result, please take a look, this is Entropia.

This is a tutorial I did from Lee Brimelow. I wanted to start using the library and understanding the parameters and functions/methods of the papervision code. I chose to attach some of my graphic design work once again. It is interactive and will take you to a url of the image on the cube face. I want to do more papervision tutorials and see how further I can take my ideas.

My love for cola ain’t a secret to anybody that ever hung out with me for more than 4 hours and with the recent pepsi rebrand, I’m realizing that I’m a fan of classics. Change is good, when it’s a step in the right direction. Which is exactly what Coke (and W+K) is doing releasing 3 new spots with the new tagline, “open happiness”. One of the spot is the third in the “hapiness factory” series . here is my fav of the new ones.

My best finding today is the new portfolio of montreal’s Mecano, a web/brand agency who are celebrating their 5 years anniversary (more or less). Being in the process of redesigning my website, I am very interested in portfolio websites these days, especially their user experience. Mecano’s site definitely bring something new and interesting to the table. I love the way their whole portfolio section is just video montage you can click to stop and explore each project.
apparently they also have been running a side blog before the launching of their site posting video excuses for the website delay. funny stuff

My final project is to create 5 new interactions as a way to help a parent to tell a story to a child. If you look at this brainstorm you will see that in some cases I strayed pretty far from the parent/child scenario.
Step 1. For me was research and persona developement. Because Of my “time risk” I will be most likely researching in my spare time for a couple more weeks. But the meat of it is done.
If anyone wants any documentation on children, interaction and learning e-mail me at BRIANJSABBETH@GMAIL.COM. There is a buttload of effective methods for interaction in the early childhood stages of developement that seem to show great results on problem-solving intelligence and socialinteraction.
Ill post sketches later
ps.
If anyone knows of an online multiuser brainstorming website that people can interact through let me know. If not if anyone wants to develope one i’m in.
