Selected exterior frames from our October 18th production day for the Fashion Tarot project. Crew consisting of Patrick Campbell - Assistant Photographer, Stephanie Oliver - Fashion Stylist, Ren Lanthier and Kaleigh Harrop - Makeup Artists. We were blessed with the sun this Saturday, it allowed me to capture exactly the type of frames I was hoping for. Thank you to our models for the day Teneille (The Empress), Brock (The Emperor), Nicola (The Star), Parisa, Sobey, Nate (The Devil).

Spare some Character Design?

So this is the character I came up with for the assignment we had to turn in for story boarding at the end of term 1 in VFS. Anyone guess where I got my inspiration from? I just need to give him a name, any suggestions?

How to create your own AC/DC music video!

Originally posted by Jamie Peterson on October 26th, 2008

AC/DC just released their new album Black Ice this month and well… it’s more AC/DC. I used to listen to a lot of AC/DC because my older brother would listen to it and that’s what everybody else at school would listen to. With the band’s recent moves to only sell their CD online and at [...]

Doxology Film

Found this browsing around the web, this was Michael Langan’s thesis for the animation program at the Rhode Island School of Design. The overall atmosphere of this production is what to me, holds everything together. Great cuts from scene to scene, great audio, really smart log line too, kind of sais it all: An experimental comedy about tennis, dancing cars, and God.”

Here’s the link to the entire movie. Enjoy!

Final Project - Synchrony - week whatever it is, I’ve lost count

Originally posted by Rae Aberdeen on October 25th, 2008

I have not posted anything regarding my final for too long now. Last time I had just sorted out my wireframes and since then I have been working non stop on visual design. One thing that it driving me crazy, is how hard it was for me to determine a style for my graphics. This is was the most challenging part for me and something I had not anticipated. I have honestly worked non stop for 3 weeks getting my graphics implemented into my flash.

After endless mockups of my graphic implementation I managed to settle on something I was happy with. The Synchrony game has a constant theme throughout when you play it, it has a blue digital field of graphics or technological lines, just like the green numbers and data like stuff from the matrix movies. I used that idea for my graphics and came up with the following. I used Cinema4D and modeled boxes and put beveled edges on them as well as textures.
I posted a few for you to see.

There is pretty much 1 weeks left for the project. I have a lot to do in a week but I am confident I can pull it all off effectively. I really want to get the graphics done in the next 2 days so I can back into the programming and fix all my bugs, and try to add more interactivity for the flash because that is the one thing that I am dissapointed in my project. There is a lot to do and the next week is going to be intense.

New splash images.

I had some time today so I thought I would add to the splash images. If you have never been to the page or didn’t notice, the logo image is randomly selected and displayed every time the page is loaded. I was planning on doing this every month but I sort of skipped last month. [...]

Next type project

Originally posted by Nicolas Alexander on October 24th, 2008

Been a while since I’ve done anything type related just for fun. Thought I’d take some time off “work” to start a personal project. Before starting a poster I always take half an hour to sketch something real fast in photoshop just to see where I’m going with it, If it’s do-able and If it’s going to look like crap. here’s what I just came up with…It will probably change a lot because now i know what work and what doesn’t but it gives you an Idea of what I am trying to do. Hopefully I will do this soon but can’t promise anything.

First Blog Up!

Originally posted by Kevin Vaisman on October 24th, 2008

So this blog was actually an assignment for Web Authoring 1 here at VFS. I found it to be one of the most interesting assignments of all since we had to create it from scratch, xhtml, css, graphics, and make it all work through this wonderful open source app named Wordpress. The other good thing about creating this is that I actually fell like updating it with a bit of everything, work, play, anything interesting, fun and worth actually writing a post about. Enjoy and come back for updates!

  • JavaScript: The Definitive Guide
  • Learning Perl
  • Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML

I really recommend checking these books out, one year subscriptions are normally $515 and this deal is frickin’ sweet! Take advantage!
