I found a drawing I did a few months ago when we were working on The Inukshuk. I really miss drawing, I’m going to have to start making more time for it.

Red Balloon

This was my term 3 flash project. I took perlin noise and I used the color data that it creates to turn and rotate the balloon. The goal was to create organic movement within flash. I still haven’t worked out some of the bugs. The movement isn’t as fluid as I would like and the balloon stops floating at a certain point when it should keep being put back into the image. I was pretty pleased with this project overall. It definitely challenged my abilities in flash. I now have more love for flash than hate.

This guy is amazing. He pulls data from blog posts, flickr, livejournal, etc. and makes rad visualizations of the data that he receives. A few of his projects are We Feel Fine and I Want you to Want Me. You can check out his talks on Ted. Enjoy!

One of my daily rituals I like to have is what I call my “daily dose of input” where I navigate the internet for an hour or two, reading current events and other interesting things that I normally don’t get exposed to in my daily life. I recommend this for everybody, it helps you grow not only as a designer, but a a person too… so here’s a sample of what yesterday entailed.
