You Look Great Today!

I just wanted you all to know…
So I’ve been following the “made-in-usa” DMCA bill the Canadian Parliament have been trying to pass under the public radar for a few months now, and it’s been hard trying to explain why it’s such a big deal to people. Thankfully, Gordon Duggan of Appropriation Art has created an amazing comic chronicling the fight up until now. I recommend this read to anybody who has any sort of interest in digital media whether its recreationally or professionally (…ahem…). I mean, the Canadian/US border already has claimed the right to search all data storage that passes to the US (scary shit if you ask me). Get involved and check it out!

Also, on a interaction note, the fact that a comic can have external-linkable assets (or on any PDF for that matter) is a sweet design choice to keep in mind, especially with eBook readers on the fringe of the mainstream present, as well as the fact that they’ll soon be gobbled up by the cellphone just like everything else. Think about it. ttfn!
”I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly when I’m reading. Immersing myself in a book or a lengthy article used to be easy. My mind would get caught up in the narrative or the turns of the argument, and I’d spend hours strolling through long stretches of prose. That’s rarely the case anymore. Now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages.”

“The Bloom device is meant to be a subversive and inspirational tool for our concrete jungles. Similar to the tuft of a dandelion as the wind carries the seedling, we propose a way of dispersing seedlings with bubbles and bicycling.”

Just like Jamie mentioned Mobygratis.com is a great place for music, thanks moby! I recently made this short video with one of his tracks.

It’s like 5 Alarm except from the guy who made that awesome video with Gwen Stefani. Okay maybe that video wasn’t that great but I happened upon this and thought that it might interest everyone. Instead of me trying to explain it all I will let Moby.

I just went through the request form for a song and it was really fast. I only had to give a discription of what the project is and of the scene it will be in. It is currently being reviewed but I will update saying how long the wait was.
Wow. I didn’t realize they did this. A must watch. Click on the beauty reel.

For the second consecutive year that VFS has been eligible, a Digital Design project has won another Salazar Student Award. Duelity, a motion piece by Boca and Ryan Uhrich (DD07), captured the award for the Interactive/Motion Design category. A Brief Guide about Bridesmaids, by Yaniv Fridman, Amber Mackay, and Nicolas A. Girard (DD10), received a Honourable Mention. It was noted that it was a very tight decision between the two projects. The highlight of the night was a presentation by Stefan Sagmeister.
Hey Guys,
Just so you know, I just found out that there’s gonna be door tickets for the Salazar Awards, Sagmeister being the guest speaker. The tickets sold out in like three days but they kept some, my guess, to see how designers will fight for the last ticket.
So if you want to attend the event, grab a blanket and go to the Roundhouse earlier than everybody else who has a ticket!
